“Architectural Emphasis” is a study of formal aesthetics creating flat color planes from images of architecture. I am interested in the geometric patterns and texture presented in these large photographs. The varying hue, light, and tones and its effect of visually flattening the photograph make these seem more like paintings than images born from a camera . I use the buildings structure and shadows to compress the image into a flat plane, addressing attention to the composition of shapes, texture, and color.
