Joseph Gower

  • I am a project based artist and designer. My works are often influenced by the visual world around me, which includes such thing as architecture, contemporary design, furniture, and even muscle car culture. These sources can sometimes be quite obvious and at other times abstracted leaving only subtle references. As an object maker, I aim to remain true to notions of beauty and sensuality while also creating images that evoke one’s own specific memory and narrative. In my line of tableware, my interest in geometric lines and planes result in objects that are both functional and sculptural.
  • Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Joseph Gower received his BFA from the University of Wisconsin. He continued to Arizona State University, Tempe, and received his MFA from the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. In 2010 he founded the New Jersey-based design house GDG Studios.
