The lower part of this soda-fired vessel was impressed with a texture created and cast in plaster. The slabs of porcelain were bent in various ways and left to stiffen up. Then they were cut at angles to fit into a base form. The upper sections were rolled at the ends and cut to fit the base, and each other, while still soft enough to accomplish this without cracking. This one of a kind piece was finished with glaze, stain, flashing slip and soda ash.
