Art in it's truest form shows the person making it their beauty and relation to the moment. Art lets us be aware in the creation. When we share art with others it becomes electric. Art promotes our basic instinctual element to be playful and become one with our surroundings.
I approach my art with a vigorous free flow. I work on several at a time. I am interested in how physical objects, poetic abstract forms and emotion spaces communicate making visual corridors. My inspiration comes from the process. In all my art: painting, sculpture, drawing and assemblage, I hope to convey a sincere and instinctive sight.
I like to make colorful oil painting abstractions. Images of people and landscapes present themselves, become characters and starting reference points to complex narratives and visual questions. I am interested in creating a visual language, answering the notion of what is and what is not. The themes of my paintings range from beauty, music, catharsis, social injustice, community, dreams, nature and time. I hope you enjoy.

STATEMENT
I have traveled many paths, and pursued many interests, but have found myself continually being pulled back to painting. Painting hasn’t been my job and certainly not my career, but it is the one constant in my life. It is my one and only vocation. I can choose to work or not, but I must paint.
Painting is not my primary income, which may be an odd thing for an artist to confess, but I like it that way. I very much enjoy keeping full ownership of my painting. I’m allowed to paint exactly what I want to paint, to try whatever creative idea I have without having to please anyone but myself. It’s very freeing experience and I find it keeps my work fresh and unique to me. I paint in the “alla prima” style of painting. I think the proper foundation of good draftsmanship is essential, but I allow myself plenty of space to paint broadly, quickly, intuitively and painterly.
BIOGRAPHY
As a vegetarian and animal activist, Patty Voje tries to use her art to bring awareness to her audience. She has been drawn to animals her whole life. Growing up she lived on a small hobby farm where she had a handful of pigs, sheep, horses, dogs and the occasional chicken. Animals, much like painting, fed her soul. Farm animals are often just thought of as a food source, and therefore, some find easy to mistreat. But, just like humans, they experience pain, fear, sorrow, and happiness. Her goal is to find those moments, and express them in her work.
She also enjoy getting outdoors, painting en plein air. Her goal for her plein air work is similar to her studio work. Work fast and capture the essence of the day. Whether it’s a breathtaking vista or humble view of a neighborhood alley, the goal is to capture the emotional response to scene. Nothing is more intoxicating than chasing light around a canvas.
Education
Patty studied Fine Art at the University of Minnesota and at the Atelier of Minneapolis. She earned her BFA degree at Metropolitan State University. She also studied with several prominent Minnesotan artists, including Joe Paquet, Richard Abraham, Michael Frey and Mary Pettis. She is an active member of American Institute for Graphic Artists and Outdoor Painter’s of Minnesota.

I have found that while doing a painting outdoors I am immersed in the moment. What I mean is that later when I look at the painting I can remember all the things that went on as I painted, the weather, the birds singing, a small animal moving through the scene, people who have stopped to talk to me. The memories are all part of the painting.

STATEMENT
Light has been the protagonist of painting since artists first put pigment to substrate. It’s the foundation of imagery, whether symbolic or literal, imagined or authentic. I carry on that tradition through observational, representational painting. Light informs so many things—more accurately, everything—we see. Fixating on light allows me to describe form in color temperature, value, saturation, and hue in a way that gives the viewer a sense of place. That’s the underlying goal. To communicate the feeling of a space with which the viewer’s connection is undeniable. The rich hues and luminous qualities that oils provide have been an inevitable, if joyful vehicle for me to express what I see.
BIOGRAPHY
Marc was born and raised in Wisconsin in the Rockwellian town of Wild Rose.
After graduating high school second in his class, he packed up his brushes and attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout, majoring in industrial design. After two years Marc switched majors to focus on illustration. Working largely in pen & ink and watercolor, he found an interest in political, satirical illustration and editorial cartooning. Marc continued on this career path for several years until, almost by accident, he discovered plein air painting. Although he loved the comfort and convenience of his studio, nothing could compete with this newfound passion. Politics was quickly replaced with depictions of the Wisconsin Landscape.
Marc continues to broaden his scope of painting techniques and subject matter and participates in plein air events and art shows across the country.

STATEMENT
As painter my goal is simply to represent on canvas how I see the world. I'm fascinated with the shapes and rhythms of nature. I conceive of my paintings as a collection of interesting shapes that fit together, and with a little luck the end result can convey something of the sublime. I've worked directly from my subjects or “plein air” for 16 years, and strive for the work to express an empathy for the unique qualities of a landscape as simply as possible.
Richard Abraham was born and raised surrounded by the beauty of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. In 1998 he made the decision to leave a 14 year career as a designer and animator, and moved to Minneapolis to train in traditional oil painting techniques. He immersed himself in study: drawing and painting from the figure 5 days a week. He refined his craft while attending The Altelier, the Bougie Studio and H&P Studios.
During this time he painted landscapes on location or “plein air” for the first time and discovered a passion for the subtlety of nature. The challenge of working outdoors consumed him, and he hasn’t looked back. Seeking a connection and empathy to the places that he depicts, he scouts rural hide-a-ways to paint in Northern Minnesota, Wisconsin and Upper Michigan.
MORE
Richard has participated in plein air events around the country including the Laguna Beach Invitational and at the Telluride Colorado Event, in 2009 was Awarded the Hiawatha Artist in Residence by the National Forest Service. His art has presented opportunities to travel the world, painting in Italy, Mexico, and Prince Edward Island to name a few. Richard is past president of The Outdoor Painters of Minnesota, exhibits his work extensively and is represented in numerous private collections.
