Dancing Legs Table

"I approached the design of this table as a piece of sculpture. My inspiration for the lines of the legs came from the legs of a sawhorse that I have been using as a makeshift dining table. I went through many variations before arriving at a dancer's leg and foot en pointe. The portholes through the table's top surface frame different views of the legs and supporting stretchers that change as you move around the table. The center arbiter, that joins the three stretchers, is covered with a dynamic handmade Japanese paper that adds movement. Finally, the use of the acorn nuts as fasteners is my tribute to Alexander Calder and his use of bolts and rivets as honest, but decorative connectors."
